The 2021 Brit Awards has been long overdue, as were the beauty looks that accompany this annual event. The award show was postponed by three months this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but you can agree that it was well worth the wait to see what our favourite celebrities were going to do with their hair and makeup.
Right from the start, the red-carpet beauty was so much more exciting that we could’ve ever pictured. Dua Lipa stunned us all with an incredible towering beehive, which made us think of Amy Winehouse’s iconic hairdo, while Griff gave us an out-of-this-world look with lilac makeup and a crystal-embellished headpiece. Billy Porter opted for an al-black ensemble which included jet-black lipstick and a smokey eye, but he didn’t forget to add a tiny crystal to the inner corners of his eyes to add some bling.

Whilst Dua Lipa’s height-defying bouffant hair and Vivienne Westwood gown may have resembled the type of updo as Amy Winehouse, it was her soft pink makeup look that had us staring intently at the singer for most of the evening. It’s the glimmer of soft pink shimmer on her inner corners that do it for us. This was Dua’s first look on the red carpet which included draped pink blush with a voluminous updo, and she definitely pulled it off.
The most unique and unexpected beauty look of the night goes to the Winner of the Rising Star Award, Griff. When it comes to pulling off the bubble braids trend, singer Griff not only understood the assignment, but she may as well have written a book on the subject. Also, we need to talk about the diamante chain woven into the lengthy do, absolutely stunning. It seems that it has become something of a signature hairstyle for the singer, and we’re in no rush to forget about it.
We still can’t get over Billy Porter’s epic all-black ensemble and beauty look on the red carpet. This look features a matte black lip and a diffused black smokey eye with a shimmery silver centre, topped off with tiny crystals in his inner corners. It was definitely a look.
Little Mix were glowing on the red carpet – not just because they won the award for Best British Group. All three looked beautiful in all white for this year’s red carpet and decided to go for a bronzed look for their makeup. Leigh-Anne opted for a braided ponytail, Jade wore her hair extra-long and Perrie stuck with her classic face framing plaits.
Rina Sawayama had one of the most incredible dresses of the evening, but it certainly didn’t mean her beauty look was average. The singer’s hi-shine shimmer across her lids and slicked back wet-look strands is giving us mermaid vibes in all the right ways. We also love her long milky manicure.
Arlo Parks paired her signature short copper curls with a gorgeous reddish-purple eyeshadow and radiant glowing skin created by makeup artist Emilie Louizides. The matching oxblood suit certainly didn’t hurt either.
British TV show host Maya Jama always knows how to win us over with a simple yet extremely glamorous beauty look, and the BRIT Awards 2021 was no different. She opted for a soft brown smokey eye with winged liner and a ‘90s inspired glossy nude shade for her lips. Can we please have a moment for those expertly shaped arches?
Lianne La Havas
Another celebrity giving us major ‘90s vibes at the BRITs, Lianne La Havas was seen wearing an intricately braided ponytail, whilst letting her clear skin be the star of the show when it came to her neutral makeup.
MNEK debuted a pastel pink hairstyle at this year’s BRITs and we’re living for it. He matched his eye makeup to his pastel blue metallic suit and the super intricate nail art design.
Channelling her inner Marilyn, singer Raye fully committed to this Hollywood vibe, looking stunning in a powerful red lip, fluffy lashes and a classic wave hairstyle that showed off her choker and neckline.
Green eye makeup is kind of having a moment right now and we’re loving that. This peridot-encrusted eye look delivers the perfect peek-a-boo alternative to a bit of lime-coloured liner. It’s creative and chic.
