Not only did they shine on the red carpet, but Little Mix made history last night by being the first female group to win the Best British Group award! Yes, you heard it right. They did it!
Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock took the stage and made sure to first thank their former band member, Jesy Nelson, who left the group a year ago. Perrie, Jade and Leigh also thanked their crew and their fans in a powerful and emotional speech.

The group said: “We have been together for ten years. It’s been the best years of our lives; we’ve gone through so much together. We’ve had so much fun, made so many beautiful memories. We wanna start by thanking our incredible fans, of course, Jesy, and our amazing team.”
They continued their speech by bringing up the racism, lack of diversity and misogyny they encountered through the years. They added: “We’ve seen the sexism and lack of diversity. We’re proud of how we’ve stuck together, stood our ground, surrounded ourselves with strong women and are now using our voices more than ever. The fact that a girl band have never won this award really speaks volumes. So, this award isn’t just for us, it’s for the Spice Girls, the Sugarbabes, All Saints, Girls Aloud. All the incredible female bands, this one’s for you.”

We all know how hard it can be for women to progress in their career and seeing Little Mix win this award is a huge and groundbreaking moment in history.
We are proud of Little Mix as well for everything that they have achieved, as well as everyone else who secured awards last night.
